Showered with Love

I’m back in LA after a wonderful week in Texas. The highlight of my time at home was the bridal shower that five of my mom’s friends threw for me.
My mom is in the middle with her dear friends who hosted the shower for me.

So many women came and showered me with their love and generosity.

My favorite part of the shower was when everyone prayed for me and eSuitor. It is a very powerful thing to feel the support of so many people as my wedding day approaches…now just 25 days away!

Supported in prayer.

My mom and her best friend C (pictured above), have been praying together for their children and their future spouses since we kids were in high school. Seeing God's answer to their prayers brought tears of joy!

Many who attended the shower wrote their words of wisdom to me on an index card. Here are a few excerpts, along with some photos of the day:

“My best advice is to love often and laugh a lot! Remember that you are best friends first”

“Pick your battles as carefully as your selected your mate.”

“Another thought is from the scripture “never let the sun go down on your anger”. Stuffing grievances is a dangerous habit as they build and grow. Gently explain your own hurt and do not attack each other. Always forgive to keep a happy heart.”

“May God be the jewel of your marriage. May you sparkle with His glory in the good times and the bad.”

“Never stop holding hands and doing the small, sweet things for each other.”

“When it comes to doing chores, your definition of how the task is done may be different than his and that is okay.”

“Don’t use the words 'always' and 'never' in arguments. Don’t bring up past hurts once they have been forgiven.”

“Stay close to each other and don’t let the distance creep in; either between the two of you OR between the two of you and God.”

“Say ‘I love you’ every day in some way.”

“Fight naked; you won’t stay mad for long!”

“If you are the meal-maker and you aren’t anywhere near ready, fry up onions in the pan; it will make everyone think it is almost ready.”

“Walk in uniqueness and unity.”

“Always try to out love each other and laugh often.”

“May the Lord guide you both in every step of life. You may have down times, but never stop praising the Lord. Keep thanking Him when there is a little and when He blesses you abundantly.”

“Always remember that God is the source of your worth and significance. Others cannot fulfill that need in you. You are loved by your God and that makes you valuable.”

What about you? Do you have any advice for this newlywed? I’d love to hear it!

Many thanks to Lincee for her wonderful photography at the shower!

Oh, it is SO great sharing in all of this with you via the internet...and how beautiful did you look on that day? You are simply glowing, I can't wait to see your wedding pictures.

Advice: Stretch before and during your honeymoon....haha, seriously...I actually put out my back (I wish I was joking....you should have seen the hard time I got from all the guys at work!)

PS - I tagged you for 8 random things...:*) can't wait to read 'em

Only 25 days to go?! Wow! How exciting.

I'm with Autumn's mom... the fight naked one is great! I will remember that. All the advice is great.

Now words of wisdom from a wife who just made it to our one year anniversary- "Snuggle a little bit each morning before getting out of bed. It's the best feeling in the world and will get you through even the toughest days."

PS... you look beautiful!

Hmmm...advice for the bride to be...I would say that I agree with "Pick your battles". That one also works with parenting. ;)

Here is how we settled thre problems a lot of couples seem to have: 1) we don't put the toilet paper on the roll at all; 2) we have our own seperate toothpaste tubes. 3) My hubby has his own room (hobby room - not bedroom, silly) that I stay out of and don't try to straighten up or clean.

Always remember that no matter what...whether you can see it or not...God has a plan and He is in control.

Oh! Thank you so much for sharing the pics. It was so neat to see so many familiar faces! Made me want to be there with all of you... wonderful advice all of it, including Jennifer's above. God IS in control and He is ALWAYS Good and HE brought you two together for HIS purposes and sometimes that won't be pleasant or happy feeling, but because it's God it's all good. ~Help each other enter heaven as your best selves.~ That's one of the best priviledges of marriage and probably the most important thing you can do for each other. All the best to you both and to my friends in Texas!

I love "fight naked." Although, that would be very hard to do. As you know, I have no advice as I am far from figuring any of this out. However, I do wish you and eSuitor a long, happy, healthy life filled with love and laughter. I'm so happy for you!!
