This morning at church, a couple from our small group dedicated their baby to the Lord. It is an opportunity for the parents to offer their child to God in prayer and to dedicate themselves to teaching the child about God and how to know Him as the child grows up.
"I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of him. So now I give him to the LORD." -Hannah, mother of Samuel (The Bible)
how beautiful. my old church in IN did tons of baby dedications, and it was always such a privilege to participate in the service and pledge that promise to help raise the child as a church family. it was always such a special time for everyone!
This blog began as my place to chronicle my life in Los Angeles, where I lived from 2005-2009. In March 2009, my husband and I moved to my home state of Texas, where we have started a new chapter of life together.
My stepdad, John, gave me the nickname "Starshine" and I have always loved it. He passed away in 2003, but his love still resonates in my heart. John had a way of putting things simply and never judging. I hope that this blog will be a place for me to put into practice some of his virtues--a place to openly express myself, free from the judgment of my inner critic. A place to be truly alive!
