This blog began as my place to chronicle my life in Los Angeles, where I lived from 2005-2009. In March 2009, my husband and I moved to my home state of Texas, where we have started a new chapter of life together.
My stepdad, John, gave me the nickname "Starshine" and I have always loved it. He passed away in 2003, but his love still resonates in my heart. John had a way of putting things simply and never judging. I hope that this blog will be a place for me to put into practice some of his virtues--a place to openly express myself, free from the judgment of my inner critic. A place to be truly alive!

Now I feel regretful that I didn't get any birthday cake pics of Little One on her first birthday! You know, I didn't want her to touch or eat her own birthday cake because...
I don't let her eat refined sugar or cake! Everyone told me, "Oh come on! Loosen up! It's her birthday! Just a little bit of cake won't kill her". I stood firm and politely said that she had not been introduced to eggs, chocolate, sugar, etc. Now I feel sad that I never got any photos like the ones you took!
