"G" is for Gentle Glow

You may have seen this post where I showed the Christmas tree skirt that I made a few years ago from my late stepdad's neckties. Well, we saved the skinny ends of the ties, and I decided to make a lampshade with them. Here is the result! Because the ties make the shade opaque, not a lot of light gets through it, so it gives a gentle glow, which is fitting.

John, too, had a gentle glow. He was warm and accepting--an easy going guy who spoiled us with his love. We miss him dearly, and I'm glad that we have little tangible reminders of him like these around to keep his memory alive.

That is a wonderful idea. My husband's aunt is waiting on me to part with some shirts of my husband's so that she can make us all a big quilt to cuddle under. Thank you so much for visiting my blog and I look forward to reading yours. Both of my brothers live in CA. One is an aspiring actor/comedian and the other is a location director. Perhaps you will run into him sometime.

This is such a great idea and it turned out awesome.

That lamp looks like it would be at home in a library, surrounded by big leather chairs and tall walls of books. (Not a public library, you understand, but the kind you have when you have more rooms in your house than you have people, and your books get a room of their own.) Heaven.

You did such a great job. I need one of these in my bedroom. My hubbie hates it because every night, I throw a t-shirt over the lamp beside the bed because I want to read and the light is too bright. (I've tried lower watt light bulbs but it's still so bright). Maybe I'll try to make something like this...

Hi Lisa W! I'm so happy that you're enjoying the blog. It's fun knowing that people from my childhood are still keeping up with me. :)

How fun that you made a necktie tree skirt. Doesn't it look pretty under the tree?!
