This blog began as my place to chronicle my life in Los Angeles, where I lived from 2005-2009. In March 2009, my husband and I moved to my home state of Texas, where we have started a new chapter of life together.
My stepdad, John, gave me the nickname "Starshine" and I have always loved it. He passed away in 2003, but his love still resonates in my heart. John had a way of putting things simply and never judging. I hope that this blog will be a place for me to put into practice some of his virtues--a place to openly express myself, free from the judgment of my inner critic. A place to be truly alive!

Isn't it crazy? My friends have had babies and sure, I love them. But when I first held my nephew? It was instant love and this connection and knowing this little person is FAMILY and has the same blood as me. That was so special, and still is, even though he is closing in on 3 years old and lives in Germany for the next few years. Your little guy is precious!

Awwww! That is absolutely precious! He is ADORABLE!!!
I know what you mean. When my little nephew was born, I felt like my heart had been captured. I instantly fell in love. It's amazing how the heart has the capability to love that much!
My little nephew is now a year old and I am still in love! Now that we're expecting a little one of our own, I wonder how my heart will feel when we get to meet our little one!!
He is darling, even when getting all grouched up. I love that he has a southern accent already.
