Texan Right of Passage

Every spring, Texans are delighted when the grassy areas along our highways become seas of blue.  The bluebonnet is our state flower, and it is basically a right of passage for every Texan child to be plunked down in a patch of bluebonnets for a photo session.

My nephew Sam is no exception, and he is now one step closer to wearing a ten gallon hat!

We went to a local park on Monday for a little photo shoot of our own!

Well done, cowboy!

I'm from OKC, but my nephew was born in Texas. Just before my brother and his wife moved to Germany with the baby they took him out at Easter and took his picture in the bluebonnets. The pictures were sent to everyone with a cute note about how they used to make fun of all the Texans taking pictures of their babies in the weeds. Those pictures are up on my cubicle wall right now, in fact.

Your nephew is almost as cute as mine!

What a cutie! I'd love to have pictures of baby Maya in a field of California poppies. Too late, though, she's a teen. ;)
