Zebras, Be Gone!

Before Hubs and I got married, he was living in the condo that we now share. While it was definitely a bachelor pad, he has good taste and picked a masculine theme and scheme for his place. For example, the artwork in the master bedroom was a grouping of black and white framed and matted zebra prints from IKEA.

Enter moi and a joyous exchange of vows, and ta-daa! It's a new look that's fun for a girl and a boy! Shortly after we married, we repainted the walls and got a new bedspread. And over the past couple weeks, we decided to 86 the zebras from their frames (though they had been taken down long ago), repaint the frames an "Espresso" color, and replace the prints with enlarged sepia-toned pictures of our wedding!

We both really love the way they look!

For those of you worried about them falling on our heads in the case of an earthquake, we hung them with these little tremor-proof cuties and then secured them with museum putty.

Yeah, earthquakes was the first thing that came to mind as a cause of them falling on your heads.

That looks so great! I love the look of the wide matting and the dark frames. It doesn't look to girly either! Tres Chic!

Even with all of the tremor hooks and museum putty available, I'm still scared to hang things above the bed. I even own the museum putty already! Although we have nothing on our walls anyway, so it's not like that one wall looks bare.

Very pretty. I like the look-- tailored, yet personal. Might have to find a place for this look in our house.

I also love the new look. Needed a woman's touch. Thanks for the tip on tremor-proof hooks. It just so happens that I've been redoing my bathroom and I was looking for something suitable to use to hang my mirrors. I think your suggestion might be perfect. Before and after pics are coming soon.
