Normal is a Relative Term

I got an e-mail from my mom last night in which she said she was marveling at how Hubs and I are living life as usual even though there is really nothing normal about our lives right now.

Isn't that the truth!

We are in serious transition right now. Half of our belongings are already packed in boxes. Our bedroom furniture sold yesterday, so our bed and box springs are just sitting on the floor and we're using TV trays for night stands!

I'm rehearsing a show right now and Hubs has finished his previous job and hasn't yet started his new one, so we are keeping crazy hours.  Late nights and lots of sleeping in...yea, me!

Meanwhile, we're living life as usual--spending time with friends, oil changes, meals, etc.

Life is good, and there are definitely no complaints here.  We found renters for our condo here in CA after we move, so that is a huge answer to prayer, and the major furniture items we hoped to sell have sold.  So like I said, no complaints.

But as far as life as usual goes?  Well, normal is a relative term, right?

I'm so glad you have found renters! What a total relief.

I'm sure you are looking forward to finishing up all the fun in CA and getting to TX to settle in. Wonder how much unpacking your Hubs will do before you get there ;-)

What is 'normal' really? :)

So glad things are going so smoothly. It is so wonderful to see the hand of moving in your life.

Ummm, that would be the hand of....God...

Must not type and talk on phone. :)

Hubs will do little to no unpacking before his lovely bride arrives. Other than unpacking the garage and my underwear, I have been forbidden to do anything that even remotely resembles nesting. And since I want to stay married, I'm doing what I'm told!

Smart man, that Hubs! :)

I'm right there with you in so many ways. Moving day is right around the corner (10 days away; moving up the hill and in with my fiance) and my apartment is in an uproar (some things are packed, some have been sold...and there's still lots to do). Add that I'm interviewing for my own job this week (after 6 years on contract, this is a chance at a permanent job), planning an October wedding and my father and his long-time partner were appointed legal, permanent guardians of a 4 and 6 year old last week...well, let's just say I'm wondering what normal is too! I'm not complaining...just a little bit over-wowed by it all!

I'm happy for you two and hope that your new life will re-define normal for you in all the best ways! Thank you for continuing to share your joy with all of us!

I love how you both handle things. So easy going. Bottle some of that and send to me please! xoxo

I think about so much of my life, and yes, I agree, normal is a relative term. Then I look at our life right now, with Ted still unemployed, but scheduled to start work on the 18th, and me so newly unemployed that I don't even want to start looking for work yet, and again, yes, normal is a relative term. If you can find joy and happiness, life is good. When times are hard, if you can find shelter from the storm and comfort, again, life is good. Normal? Perhaps not.
