feeling the breeze of life go by

the crevices in the skin on my knuckles
and the lines around my eyes
don't lie.

they're weathered
by the stormy times
and well, just time and life.

chapped by wind
chapped by pain
chapped by days gone by.

but wait, my soul--
do not despair!
my soul, you're not alone.

a desert wind blows without,
but a balmy breeze within--
the very breath of God
making all things new,
including you, my soul
each day.

Inspired by this poem, written by the brilliantly talented Thoti of El Poeta de las Colinas Solitarias.
